Per-Se Technologies Announces Expansion at Greenville Business AirPark

Availability for an additional 168 jobs in new 20,000-sf office building

GREENVILLE, TEXAS – Nov. 4, 2004 – Per-Se Technologies, one of Greenville’s largest employers, announced today that they will be expanding into a new 20,000-sf office building at the Greenville Business AirPark. The company has had over 325 employees in their current building at the AirPark since 1997. Per-Se will be able to add another 168 employees when their new building opens next year.

Per-Se, a publicly traded company based in Alpharetta, Georgia, had been considering other Per-Se sites across the nation for their expansion, but Greenville was able to provide quality labor with an abundance of land with infrastructure. GEUS was also quick to respond with answers to the company’s electric and fiber optic cable needs.

"The Board of Development has been working with Per-Se officials for more than a year on this project, and it’s good to see it come to fruition," stated Board of Development chairman Joe Weis. "We are very pleased the company sees the Greenville Business AirPark as an excellent place to do business."

The AirPark was created in 1996 when the Board of Development purchased 500-acres of former ranchland just north of the Greenville Municipal Airport "Majors Field." Since then, Per-Se Technologies has grown to over 300 employees while just last year, Texas Book Company opened its new 60,000-sf headquarters, employing another 100. The Board of Development, with support from U.S. Congressman Ralph Hall, won a $200,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration (EDA) to construct a new road, Technology Circle, with infrastructure. This allows the Board of Development to offer readily-available sites to companies looking to be in a new building within 3-4 months, said Weis.

Greenville was selected after a careful search involving a number of communities, according to Eddie Miller, Vice President of the Greenville Per-Se office. Greenville was chosen because of its affordable cost of living, abundant labor pool, and community support. Miller added that the success of the Greenville office of Per-Se also played a part in the company’s decision to expand here.

"We were impressed with all of the sites we considered," explained Miller, "but in the end, Greenville offered us the opportunity to construct a new building in a business park with covenants and other features that will help us protect our investment. It’s an excellent place for us to do business." Miller also noted the broad support from the Greenville community, including support from Mayor Jim Morris and the City Council, County Judge Joe Bobbitt and Commissioners, the Hunt Memorial Hospital District, the Greenville Board of Development and city staff

Greenville has a population of just over 25,000 and is located 45 miles east of Dallas on Interstate 30. Its major industries include L-3 Communications (formerly E-Systems), Newell Rubbermaid, Cytec Engineered Materials and Atrium. Earlier this year, Woodgrain Millworkds completed its new 123,000-sf manufacturing facility in the new Greenville Industrial Centre.

In recent years, developers and manufacturers have realized Greenville’s strategic location as a northeastern apex to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, and the Greenville Economic Development Corporation has forged alliances with the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce and other regional economic development organizations.

"The Metroplex has grown rapidly along I-30 in recent years," notes Weis, "and we are positioning our community to meet the demands of a growing region. Greenville has much to offer, in terms of location, easy accessibility and workforce. It’s good to see Per-Se and other companies taking advantage of all that Greenville has to offer."
