The following data represents the workforce of Greenville’s existing business and industry base and supports the pattern and practice of a significant number of workers commuting into Greenville from outside the immediate area.

  • Actual employment by Greenville establishments is 21,824 workers
     
  • Greenville’s 2010 Projected Civilian 16+ population in the workforce is 11,649 (See Community Profile Demographics)
     
  • As the total employment of existing Greenville establishments is almost double the number of the workforce represented by individuals living within City limits, it is clear that local employers pull from areas outside the City and County, and that workers commuting to Greenville is a common pattern.
